I bought it to read with my 3-year-old who really likes volcanoes, figured it would complement us teaching her how they work. It does that very well, but it also include a lot of stories about volcanoes killing entire cities of people (Pompeii, for o|From School Library Journal|Grade 3–4—Lloyd's colorful new graphics update Branley's 1985 text (HarperCollins), which includes accounts of a few historic eruptions (Mounts Vesuvius, Tambora, St. Helens, and Parícutin) and explains how and why
